***NEWS FLASH***NEWS FLASH***NEWS FLASH*** Team Member Chris Robson has been in contact after his recent match at Forrest Lane Fishery. Chris Told Pallatrax: "Well after a long time off due to work and family commitments I was itching to get back on the bank. The chosen venue was my local and favourite complex of Forest Lane near York. With a three-day festival coming up at the end of the month, the day was more about getting a few bites and getting a feel for how the fishery was going to fish in a few week’s time. It can be a funny time of the year, even on heavily stocked commercials they can be fickle coming out of winter and going into spring but I knew that fish weights had been steadily increasing. Greeted with a beautiful sunny morning and a gentle breeze things were looking good for an enjoyable day. With 19 people fishing, and the full complex available there was going to be plenty of room for all, with no 'bad' pegs in the draw. I drew peg 24 on a lake called Oaklands. It's actually a corner peg, and had some recent form. After the usual banter of 'well drawn' I had a quick word with Eddie the owner to get some information on how they had been catching. Local knowledge is something I can't stress enough, as long as it's from someone you can trust! On arriving at the peg, I certainly had plenty of room but with the wind off my back and a flat Calm peg I was slightly concerned on how it might go. I had four main lines of attack for the day: 1. The stonze system wrapped in maggot crush groundbait, and a match midget in a bait band cast to the center of the lake. 2. A shallow rig fishing maggots at 14 m straight in front. 3. A line towards the reeds up the side of the pond at 13m towards the corner of the lake, in 3' of water. 4. Finally, a line at 5m to my left, down my inside margin fished towards the next platform in 18" of water. This was fed all day but was really a throwaway line. I suspected it might be too early for them to come so close yet but a great area to target a bonus fish or two. I started off by priming my pole lines and decided to start on the stonze set up. I had indications from the start and soon had six small stocky carp, around a pound each. With the water still cold and clear I think the action had spooked the few that were there at the start…so it was back onto the pole. I could catch a couple of fish off each line. Alternating between soft pellets and maggots on the hook, however I couldn't get them lined up anywhere. A few quick bites then nothing, I tried feeding heavier and just trickling in a tiny amount. I felt that the clear water was the problem, catching a couple of fish was spooking anything else in the area so I settled into a routine of catching two fish then moving on. At the half way point news on the bank was that it was fishing hard, so I felt like I was keeping pace nicely by keeping busy. I was catching mainly small carp, with some small chub on the shallow line and a few small silvers, roach and skimmers. With an hour and a half to go, I saw a slight swirl down the margin to my left and noticed it had started to colour up. I aired up with three maggots tapped in some micro pellets and gently lowered my rig in. Despite seeing fish swirling and loads of indications on the float I couldn't get a proper bite. Then two good fish spooked of and bow waved out of the peg in close succession. I knew then that a change was needed. I had setup a heavy rig for this line, expecting some bigger fish but I was sure it was the heavier line that was causing the issue. So, into the rig tray and out went a much lighter rig, the response was immediate with a large barbell almost pulling the pole out of my hand before I'd even got the rig in properly. The next hour was fast and furious, with fish coming as fast as I could get back in. Feeding a large pot of groundbait and dead maggots after every fish, the swim became stronger and stronger. Some much better carp to arou

**CATCH REPORT** MISSION BLUE POOL** A recent trip to the Advanced Angling's Blue Pool was another for our own Paula to remember, great to share it here is what Paula had to say, enjoy. Since joining the Pallatrax team I have had some great opportunities to fish beautiful venues that would otherwise be beyond my reach. Recently we fished Advanced Angling's Blue Pool. A few weeks earlier I visited Gold Lake on the same complex and had caught my PB so I had high hopes for these few days. Three of us drew straws and I had second choice of what swim I wanted. Terry Bell had picked Korda Corner, he was gunning for it and luckily for him had drawn the longest straw. That left the Boss, Simon Pomeroy with the leftovers, arguably fitting since he is a Pro and would most likely work a swim and catch a kipper. I'm sure that man could catch a fish in a desert! I put out a bit of bait on the first morning, some of our 'Sick Mix' and a scattering of particle, I didn't want to over do it though, these fish are high pressured. As a novice, I'm not 100% sure of how to approach these types of venues, so I take expert advice from my team-mates, there were 5 of us on the lake for these two days, at least 10 lines in the water at any one time. If I were a carp, I'd be extremely cautious when feeding. The night came and went quickly and everyone had thus-far blanked. The carp were visible but obviously not hungry. They had been spawning next door on Gold for the previous few days, a wonderful analogy I once heard was "even I sometimes fancy stopping for a Kit Kat during sex!", the Kit Kat of course being a nice Crave flavoured squab wrapped in the matching paste. Anyway, I digress, nobody had caught a thing! It was now 3pm the afternoon before we had to vacate the lake. There was only one thing left, throw in all of my bait and hope that those kippers could smell my bacon (Squab) from wherever they were hiding out and come to investigate. Another few hours had passed, that was it...I had 14 hours left, it was time to pack up and move to the opposite bank. I packed up and moved, my oppo followed a couple of hours after me. I think he feels like I need looking after, he is my 'fishing Dad' after all. With my traps set and the darkness well and truly set in, I jumped in my wide-boy bed chair and closed my eyes. As a woman I do like to enjoy a little comfort on the bank, although there's no need for a hairdryer or make-up for me. At exactly 0318 those glorious bells rang, well, kind of. At first I wasn't sure, my bite alarm sounded very 'Breamy', I'm sure you all know what I mean by that. As I pulled into my rod it felt like a lump of weed, heavy but no pull back at all, it took me a good thirty seconds to feel a pull on the line. By this time my oppo Rich Shaw was by my side with a landing net in hand. He's an old hat at this and always offers good advice, "keep a bend in that rod", "keep the rod tip up"...those gems that keep you Calm and ensure that fish is well and truly 'in the bag'. After a short fight, this 19lb Mirror was safe and secure, caught on a Pallatrax 14mm yellow Flarze pop-up sprayed with Crave Overspray. No one else had a catch, which meant that this girl had out-done the lads and was super happy. Maybe next time fellas! πŸ™‚ Thank-you to Simon Pomeroy for the opportunity, Smiffy for just being lovely, Terry for this excellent picture and Rich for actually netting this catch. I had a brilliant time making memories with you guys.

All things being equal we hope the DVD is " in the can " as they say in the trade, all that being said our last few trips out have managed to strike up no less than four pb's in the team not least and very pleasing is Paula Marriott sneaking hers right at the very last knockings of our last visit this week. We were there to utilise, film and explain the Stonze System this is what Paula had to say about the capture of this stunning 25lb 10 oz mirror. When I arrived at Gold Lake I was super excited and full of hope. I had heard good things about the venue run by Advanced Angling and had watched a few features filmed there. I told myself (and others) that this would be where I pickup my PB. It was a pretty slow start, but one of the many things I love about fishing is that renewed sense of hope you feel after every cast. You've picked your spot, chosen your bait and in my case, said a little prayer to the Carp Gods. Time passed and nothing had really happened for me. My Pallatrax team mates had landed a few nice fish, but it seemed that this wasn't to be my time after all. It was 0930 at the end of our 48 hours my bivvy was down and my barrow was loaded. Reeling in my rods was all that was left to do. I was so engrossed in packing up that I almost didn't hear that sweet sound of the bite alarm, my oppo Rich Shaw had to alert me to the Gamma line peeling of the reel. I picked up the rod and felt the lump on the end, I knew immediately that it was going to smash my PB, I could feel it! After a couple of minutes I had it in the net, well actually, the boss landed it for me. Simon Pomeroy had Calmly talked me through bringing it in, reminding me to keep my tip up and a bend in the rod at all times. This beautiful kipper was caught on the Stonze System, with a stumpy 3.5 inch rig and a snowman made of Jungle flavoured, 10mm pop-up Squabs. The Stonze was wrapped in Bloodworm and Maggot Crush method, with a handful of our dried Water Fly for added natural attraction. It was the perfect end to a wonderful few days on the bank with my mates, the place where memories are made. Paula.
